Taste of Angkor Wins Prestigious Gourmand Award in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: The Taste of Angkor, published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), has been recognized with the 'Best of the Best - Cambodia' award at the Gourmand Awards Best of the Best 1995-2025 (30 Years). H.E. Ms. CHRING Botumrangsay, Secretary of State at the MFAIC, accepted the accolade on behalf of Cambodia during her visit to the Saudi Feast Food Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, held from November 27 to 30, 2025.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Secretary of State emphasized the strategic role of culinary diplomacy in promoting Cambodia's economic diplomacy. She highlighted the commitment to utilizing Cambodia's rich cultural heritage to enhance the nation's global image and prestige.

The Taste of Angkor 2 had previously been honored with the 'Special Award of the Jury' at the 30th Gourmand Awards, which took place during the Cascais World Food Summit from June 18-22, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal. This event attracted participants from nearly 200 countries, showcasing the global recognition of Cambodia's culinary achievements.

The success of the second edition follows the achievements of the first edition, which garnered four prestigious international Gourmand Awards. These include "Best Asian Cookbook in 2021', "Best Asian Cuisine Book," "Heads of State/Food" in 2022, and "Best Television Awards in 2023," demonstrating the cookbook's consistent excellence.

The Taste of Angkor 2 offers a collection of 38 traditional Khmer dishes and desserts, reflecting the everyday culinary experiences of Cambodian people. It also emphasizes Cambodia's agricultural richness and highlights renowned Geographical Indication (GI) products such as Phka Romduol Rice, Kampot Pepper, Kampot-Kep Salt, and Kampong Speu Palm Sugar.
