Bangkok: Thai forces this morning deployed additional F-16 fighter jets, along with bombing drones and heavy artillery, to carry out attacks against Cambodia, according to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata stated at a press briefing that Thai F-16 fighter jets bombarded the area of Chouk Chey village, O'Beichoan commune, O'Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, at 6:25 a.m. on Dec. 17. This marks the 11th consecutive day of Thailand's military actions against Cambodia. Additionally, she reported that Thai infantry units, supported by tanks, attempted to infiltrate Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages, utilizing toxic gas in Prey Chan village. Concurrently, Thai forces shelled and bombarded several areas within Cambodia's Military Region 4. In response to the aggression, Cambodia has notified the United Nations Security Council, arguing that the Thai airstrikes represent a clear act of aggression. Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, H.E. Keo Chhea, emphasized to the Security Council that these airstrikes signify outright aggression rather than self-defense. He warned that international silence could lead to the normalization of such unlawful use of force. Since the renewal of attacks on Dec. 7, the repeated use of F-16 fighter jets by Thai forces has caused significant damage to Cambodian civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, office buildings, pagodas, sacred temples, roads, and bridges.
