Phnom penh: The Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, has reported that aggressive military operations by Thai forces on Cambodian territory have killed at least seven civilians and injured 20 others.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, preliminary information from the provincial authorities indicates that the Thai military's shelling of civilian areas from Dec. 8 to 9, 2025, as of 6:00 a.m., has caused the deaths of seven Cambodian civilians and left 20 others injured, as stated by the spokeswoman during a press briefing this morning.
The Ministry of National Defence has strongly condemned these acts, which it says demonstrate that Thai forces have violated the ceasefire and the Joint Declaration signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries on Oct. 26, 2025. The agreement was witnessed by U.S. President H.E. Donald Trump and H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chair of ASEAN.
Thai military forces have reportedly continued their attacks on Cambodian forces and civilians in various locations across Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces.
