Poipet: Thai forces fired a total of 17 shells of 155mm artillery into densely populated civilian residential areas in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, this morning. The shelling occurred between 7:45 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., targeting civilian areas and causing significant disruption.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry of National Defence reported that ten shells landed in the Stung Bot Roundabout area on Street 58, Sangkat Phsar Kandal; five shells in Andong Thmar Meas village, Sangkat Nimitt; and two shells in Toul Pongro village, Sangkat O'Russey. The attacks resulted in injuries to civilians travelling on Street 58 and caused damage to private property.
The Ministry's report emphasized that the shelling constitutes indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military, violating international humanitarian law. Cambodian forces were quick to assist the injured civilians and are monitoring the situation closely. The Ministry underscored their commitment to protecting Cambodia's territorial integrity and national dignity, vowing to stand firm against any form of coercion or intimidation.
