Three More BEEP’s Learning Centres Launched

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the UNESCO Office in Phnom Penh, has launched three learning centres of the Basic Education Equivalency Programme (BEEP).

The official launch was held here at the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation under the presidency of H.E. Pich Sophorn, Permanent Secretary of State for Labour and Vocational Training.

Located in Phnom Penh, the three newly-launched centres are the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (NIEI), the National Institute of Business (NIB), and the JVC Technical School.

According to the MoEYS’ Facebook page, these centres aim to provide an e-learning based alternative education to out-of-school youth at lower secondary level to help them complete basic education – equivalent to grade 9, preparing them with good knowledge and skills for decent employment opportunities.

Cambodia currently has five BEEP’s learning centres. The other two, including the Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen Siem Reap and the National Polytechnic Institute of Angkor, are situated in Siem Reap province.
