Tourism Ministry Boosts Digital Strategy to Attract Younger Generations

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is intensifying its digital transformation efforts to better engage younger travellers and enhance the country's standing in the regional and global tourism markets.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during a meeting on January 13 with the Ministry's Spokesperson Team and Media Working Group, Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak emphasized that digital technology is a crucial component in the development of tourism, particularly for connecting with Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. The Minister noted, "The use of digital technology to promote Cambodia's tourism sector at the present time has truly helped accelerate the development of tourism, making it more dynamic and responsive to the needs of the new generations."

The meeting served as a platform to review the progress of previous digital initiatives and to outline future steps. These include clearer task assignments, implementation timelines, and future work plans aimed at boosting the Ministry's digital presence.

During the proceedings, H.E. Huot Hak directed technical teams to expedite several key initiatives. These priorities include forming dedicated teams to more efficiently handle official emails, accelerating the development of a digital administrative document storage system, creating a central media server for data storage and sharing, and launching official Facebook pages for all departments under the Ministry's three General Departments.
