Turkish Airlines Launches Istanbul-Phnom Penh Flight

Phnom penh: Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Trkiye, launched a new route between Istanbul and Phnom Penh, enhancing Cambodia's presence within the global aviation network.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight was held at the Techo International Airport. The event was attended by H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in-Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA); H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism; H.E Mrs. Kocaefe, Ambassador of the Republic of Trkiye to Cambodia; Mr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines; and representatives from tour agencies.

This new air service, which will operate three flights per week using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, is set to begin on December 11, 2025. It marks a significant achievement in Cambodia's aviation development and highlights the country's growing role as a connected nation in the region and beyond.

H.E. Mao Havannall, speaking at the event, emphasized that the establishment of the new route is not only a milestone for Cambodia's aviation sector but also a symbol of the deepening friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Trkiye. He noted that through Istanbul, a strategic hub linking Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Cambodia is now more conveniently connected to global markets, business centers, and cultural destinations.

Cambodia has reported a total of 5.66 million international air passengers in the first ten months of 2025, reflecting a 14 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to an SSCA report.
