U.S. Medical Team Delivers Free Healthcare to 433 Residents in Kampong Thom

Kampong thom: A team of 60 U.S. medical volunteers, including 30 specialists, provided free medical checkups and treatment to 433 residents in Tangkok district, Kampong Thom province, on Oct. 7, in an effort to support Cambodia's healthcare sector.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the mission was spearheaded by the U.S.-based Medical Mission Outreach and organised in collaboration with the Baray-Santuk District Health Office. Mr. Felipe Castro, Country Director of Bileg Community Outreach International, led the U.S. team, continuing his long-standing commitment to bringing foreign medical aid to the area.

This one-day initiative saw volunteers treat 254 residents for general illnesses, 154 for eye conditions, and 25 for dental problems. The event, which ran from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., marks another visit by the group, which has conducted similar missions in Tangkok district previously.

District Governor Mr. Hak Mong Huot expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Castro for his consistent mobilisation of charitable contributions and international medical professionals. He emphasised that these efforts effectively complement the Royal Government of Cambodia's work to improve citizen well-being and alleviate financial stress associated with healthcare.

Looking ahead, Mr. Castro committed to arranging for two additional teams of international medical professionals to return to the district in mid-January 2026 to provide further medical services.

Governor Hak Mong Huot also took the opportunity to encourage local residents to utilise the medical services available at nearby health centres, highlighting that they are equipped with adequate facilities, quality medicines, and qualified professionals. He concluded by reminding the community to maintain personal hygiene and ensure they drink clean water as a preventative health measure.
