UNISHAMS ON PAR WITH OTHER PUBLIC, PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES

BALING, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah International Islamic University’s (UniSHAMS) success in being rated as a competitive institution by the Malaysian Institution of Higher Learning (IPT) in 2022 is an encouraging achievement, said the Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah.

He said it had placed UniSHAMS on par with other leading public and private IPTs in the country.

He expressed hope that UniSHAMS, as an Islamic IPT and fully owned by the state government, would continue to achieve greater excellence and be given undivided support in various aspects.

This included in terms of infrastructure development, improving the quality of studies and learning, as well as other related needs to ensure UniSHAMS remain relevant," said the Sultan of Kedah in his speech at the 25th UniSHAMS Convocation at the Kuala Ketil Campus near here, today.

Also in attendance were the Sultanah of Kedah Sultanah Maliha Almarhum Tengku Arif, Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin and the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff, as well as Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The Sultan said since its establishment two decades ago, UniSHAMS produced graduates with competitive abilities.

“UniSHAMS graduates are moulded to be learned individuals, to share their knowledge, as well as be role models and sources of inspiration for others.

“They are moulded to become thinkers who can lead various levels of society as well as become professionals who are charismatic, ethical and committed to developing the ummah," he added.

He also urged UniSHAMS alumni to contribute ideas or financial support to the university to ensure the institution continues to grow.

The two-day convocation ceremony which began today saw a total of 1,290 graduates receive their diploma and degree scrolls.
