United States Seeks to Resume Russian Gas Supply to Europe via Ukraine

Washington:The United States is actively pursuing negotiations to facilitate the supply of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine. This initiative is aimed at addressing the critical shortage of gas reserves in Europe as winter approaches.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the plan is supported by the U.S. and involves utilizing a third party as a mediator and establishing escrow accounts to navigate around European sanctions. This proposal was reportedly put forth by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The U.S. administration views this strategy as a means to help mitigate rising oil and gas prices, with the proposal including the possibility of reopening the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This move could potentially serve as a resolution to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine while addressing longstanding disagreements between Russia and European allies of the United States.

Discussions are ongoing, and the White House has suggested holding funds from the sale of Russian gas in an escrow account controlled by a third party. However, the White House and the U.S. State Department have not yet commented on the matter.
