YAYASAN SARAWAK, PETRONAS COLLABORATE TO SPONSOR SARAWAK STUDENTS

Starting next year, about 80 students from Sarawak who are continuing their studies in fully residential schools (SBP) in Peninsular Malaysia will receive full sponsorship for their studies under the Yayasan Sarawak Student Exchange Scholarship Programme.

The programme, a collaboration between Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and Yayasan Sarawak from 2024 to 2029, will enable 40 of the students to be sponsored by Petronas and the rest by Yayasan Sarawak.

Malaysia LNG Group of Companies general manager and chief executive officer Mohamed Syazwan Abdullah @ Laga Jenggi said the collaborative effort aims to nurture students’ potential in activities related to Science and Mathematics while instilling an interest in the fields of technical and engineering.

“With this sponsorship programme, we hope it will help cover the schooling costs, such as annual fees, uniforms, participation in extracurricular activities and so on.

“As such, this can encourage students to study hard to achieve excellent results in public examinations,” he said at the Petronas-Yayasan Sarawak memorandum of understanding (MoU) document exchange ceremony today.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof witnessed the MoU document exchange between Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli and Petronas’ Mohamed Syazwan.
