Phnom penh: Parliamentary representatives from 16 Asia-Pacific countries have officially adopted the 'Phnom Penh Communiqu©' at the conclusion of the 9th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian's Forum on Global Health (APPFGH), hosted by Cambodia from Aug. 11 to 13, 2026.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Phnom Penh Communiqu© reflects a strong collective political commitment to advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by addressing two key challenges: harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) technology through good governance and ethical principles, and building health systems that are resilient to climate change.
The document emphasises the importance of ensuring health equity and protection for vulnerable groups across the region, including people displaced by armed conflicts.
