KEPALA BATAS, A total of 190 Neighbourhood Watch Communities (KRTs) throughout Penang joined hands to prepare 'bubur lambuk' or savoury rice porridge through a programme dubbed "Gerak Rahmah 2024: Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk Perpaduan". Penang National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) deputy director Zulkhairi Zainal said the programme aims, among other things, to integratedly mobilise KRT throughout the state and ensure active involvement at the community level. "The programme is conducted in a 'gotong-royong' manner, involving various parties including government agencies, non-governmental organisations, communities and private parties, demonstrating the spirit of cooperation, unity, and mutual respect among diverse racial communities. "In Penang, a total of 190 KRTs are involved in the programmeme, which takes place simultaneously across the state, and we aim to make and distribute over 10,000 to the public regardless of race," he told Bernama after the programme at Masjid Al-Arifi in Paya Keladi he re today. According to Zulkhairi, the programme, which was participated in by communities of diverse racial and religious backgrounds, reflected the harmonious coexistence of Malaysian society through mutual respect, tolerance, and cooperation.
