80 Percent of Displaced People Return Home Following Ceasefire

Phnom penh: Since the ceasefire took effect at noon on Dec. 27, 2025, approximately 80 percent of more than 640,000 displaced people have returned to their homes, according to the Ministry of Interior.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, about 520,000 people, equivalent to nearly 80 percent of the total displaced population, have now returned to their communities, as stated in a news release issued by the ministry this afternoon. The ministry also reported that an additional 2,446 displaced people returned to their respective homes today, leaving 125,073 people still residing in displacement camps.

Most of those who remain displaced were evacuated from 14 specific areas that are under illegal control by Thai forces following the ceasefire agreement of Dec. 27, 2025, the ministry noted.
