Phnom penh: The city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China, hosted the Asia-Pacific Media Forum Guangzhou Sub-Forum today, gathering media professionals, experts, and scholars from across the Asia-Pacific region.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event was jointly organised by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and the Guangzhou Bureau of Xinhua News Agency. During the opening ceremony, Ms. Tan Jing, Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, highlighted the media's role in promoting exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding, and fostering cooperation among countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The forum provided a platform for participants to exchange views and share experiences on the development and future direction of the media industry in the region. It featured panel discussions focusing on the development and transformation of media in the new era, particularly the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on journalism, news production, and public communication.
Participants discussed the opportunities and challenges of rapid technological advancement, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation, innovation, and professional exchanges among media institutions. A Cambodian delegation, including representatives from the Ministry of Information and the Royal Academy of Cambodia, also participated, reflecting Cambodia's engagement in regional media exchanges.
The Asia-Pacific Media Forum Guangzhou Sub-Forum is part of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Media Forum, scheduled for Sept. 5 in Shenzhen, China, where heads of media outlets, think tanks, universities, and government departments from the Asia-Pacific are expected to gather.
