Phnom penh: H.E. Mrs. EAT Sophea, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has conducted a briefing on the recent outbreak of armed offensive along the Cambodia-Thai border to members of the diplomatic corps and international organisations accredited to Cambodia. The briefing took place at the Ministry this morning, with heads of Cambodian Missions overseas and the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) also attending the event online.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Permanent Secretary of State apprised the participants of the chain of events leading up to Thailand's offensive against Cambodia, which began in the afternoon of December 7, 2025. She highlighted Cambodia's deep appreciation for the presence of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) and the AOT in verifying Cambodia's sincerity and commitment to the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
Mrs. Sophea conveyed her gratitude to all friends who have expressed support for the peaceful settlement of disputes. She called for full respect for the ceasefire and the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, emphasizing the importance of resolving conflicts through diplomatic means.
