Thai Forces Extend Attacks Deeper into Cambodian Territory

Phnom penh: Thai military forces this afternoon expanded their aggressive operations deeper into Cambodian territory by attacking civilian areas in Military Region 5, according to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry reported that on Dec. 9, 2025, at 02:40 p.m., Thai forces fired heavy weapons, with one shell landing near Chak Puok Primary School in Slor Kram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province, and another falling near a cornfield at the foot of a mountain. This attack, the Ministry added, was a brutal and indiscriminate assault on populated areas, including a children's school.

The Ministry of National Defence strongly condemned these acts, noting that they clearly violate the ceasefire agreement and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Deal signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries on Oct. 26, 2025, under the witness of U.S. President Donald Trump and H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and ASEAN Chair.
