Cambodia and Indonesia Pledge to Combat Cybercrime Syndicates

Phnom penh: Cambodia and Indonesia have committed to intensifying their joint efforts against cross-border cyber-scam networks. This commitment was made following a high-level meeting between H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, Cambodia's Senior Minister for Special Missions and Head of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), and outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Santo Darmosumarto.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Senior Minister Sinarith highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia's priority to prosecute the leaders of these scams and eliminate fraudulent operations that have been affecting regional diplomatic relations. He noted that the cooperation with Indonesia would focus on real-time intelligence sharing and coordination between law enforcement agencies.

Ambassador Darmosumarto praised Cambodian authorities for recent interventions that resulted in the rescue of Indonesian nationals who had been trafficked into scam operations. He confirmed that Indonesia would continue its strategic partnership with Cambodia to address the growing threat of digital fraud, even after his term as ambassador ends.

The discussions also emphasized the importance of streamlining legal procedures to expedite the process of returning victims to their home countries, thereby avoiding previously encountered bureaucratic delays.
