Cambodian Senior Minister Calls for National Unity Amid Border Security Concerns

Battambang: Senior Minister H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch on Monday called for national solidarity and public confidence in the Cambodian Royal Government's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty following incursions by Thai troops. Speaking at a public safety event in Battambang province, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, who serves as the First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), urged citizens to remain united behind the administration's political, legal, and security strategies.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Minister emphasized that the greatest strength of Cambodia lies in the unity between the state and its people, the armed forces, and civil society. His remarks were in line with recent directives from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. The Minister's comments were delivered during the installation of explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) billboards near Phnom Sampov Secondary School in Banan district, an area still affected by unexploded ordnance (UXO) from historical military conflicts with Thailand.

H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch stressed that educating the public on the dangers of explosive remnants is a top priority for Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet to ensure the safety of residents and children in former conflict zones. The Minister also extended gratitude to China and other international partners for their continued support of Cambodia's humanitarian mine action sector. He noted that such aid has saved tens of thousands of lives and facilitated the rehabilitation of numerous communities.

Amidst broader discussions regarding territorial integrity, H.E. Senior Minister relayed the Prime Minister's call for national calm, urging the public to avoid violence driven by anger and instead rely on international law and diplomatic dignity to protect national interests.
