Hanoi: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, engaged in talks with H.E. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Hanoi this afternoon.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, both leaders lauded the advancements in their nations and their increasing international stature, as conveyed by H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate. H.E. Tran Thanh Man extended a warm welcome to Samdech Techo and his delegation, who were present for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day. He emphasized that this visit underscores the deep-rooted and ongoing friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam.
Samdech Techo acknowledged the August Revolution of 1945 as a pivotal event for Vietnam, serving as an inspiration in the global anti-colonial fight for independence. He expressed contentment with the robust cooperation between the two nations at legislative, executive, and party levels, which continues to grow stronger.
The Senate President noted the consistent increase in bilateral trade, which currently stands at US$10 billion annually, with aspirations to reach US$20 billion. Additionally, he conveyed gratitude to Vietnam for its enduring support through scholarships in various fields such as the economy and the military, which aid in the development of Cambodian human resources.
