Cambodia Marks 32nd World Indigenous Peoples Day and 22nd National Celebration

Phnom penh: Cambodia celebrated the 32nd International Day of the World Indigenous Peoples alongside the 22nd national observance in a ceremony held in Stung Treng province. The event was presided over by H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, and H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism. The theme for this year's celebration was 'Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being.'

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ceremony saw the participation of more than 940 individuals. These included senior officials from various ministries and institutions, provincial authorities, development partners, local authorities, teachers, students, and members of indigenous communities. The annual event is a significant occasion for recognizing and celebrating the contributions of indigenous peoples in Cambodia.
