Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Independent Foreign Policy and Peace

Phnom Penh:Cambodia remains committed to an independent foreign policy grounded in international law, promoting multilateralism, and resolving disputes through dialogue, amid complex geopolitical situations, economic uncertainties, and growing non-traditional security challenges.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet expressed these views at the 25th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) held in Phnom Penh.

Hun Manet emphasized Cambodia's adherence to the 'Win-Win Policy' as a philosophy for peacebuilding and dialogue. He highlighted the crucial role of veterans in promoting and preserving peace, noting their profound understanding of its value due to their experiences in warfare.

The Prime Minister's remarks come as Cambodia continues to advocate for dialogue, cooperation, and respect for international law to maintain peace and stability, employing the 'Win-Win Policy' as a guiding principle. This policy, originally implemented by former Prime Minister Hun Sen from 1996 to 1998, aimed at national reconciliation by integrating former Khmer Rouge members into Cambodian society.

The VECONAC General Assembly serves as a platform for ASEAN veterans' associations to exchange experiences, strengthen cooperation, and pursue initiatives to enhance veterans' welfare and contribute to regional peace and stability.
