Phnom penh: The Royal Government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its firm and united stance in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Government Spokesperson H.E. Pen Bona said during a press briefing on Monday. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, since Cambodia came under military aggression from Thailand on July 24, 2025, government leaders, ministries, and authorities at all levels have worked closely and intensively to protect national sovereignty, safeguard territorial integrity, and provide assistance to displaced civilians. Over the past six months, ministries and institutions have issued nearly 700 official communications, including press releases, diplomatic notes, statements, and clarification letters, to address the situation and clarify Cambodia's position domestically and internationally. In parallel, the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, in coordination with relevant institutions, has conducted nearly 200 daily press briefings to keep the public informed and respond to misinf ormation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has conducted 14 briefings for diplomatic missions and international organisations on the border situation developments and organised multiple field visits for foreign diplomats to affected border areas. Cambodian diplomatic missions abroad have actively engaged with international partners to explain Cambodia's lawful and peaceful position based on international law. The Ministry of National Defence has facilitated monitoring by foreign military attachés and ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), while the Ministry of Information has enabled national and international media to report from border areas on civilian impacts and infrastructure damage. The spokesperson noted that Cambodian citizens from all walks of life, including monks, journalists, and social media influencers, have demonstrated strong national unity in supporting the government's efforts. Public advocacy, humanitarian assistance for frontline forces and displaced civilians, and cal ls for international support have underscored nationwide solidarity. Reiterating Cambodia's position, the spokesperson stressed that Cambodia firmly upholds the existing Cambodia-Thailand international border in accordance with international law, including the principle of uti possidetis juris, relevant treaties, official maps, and boundary demarcation records, and rejects any attempt to alter borders through the use of force.
