Cambodia-Thailand-China Trilateral Meeting Kicks Off in Yunnan

Kunming: The Cambodia-Thailand-China Trilateral Meeting kicked off in Kunming, China's Yunnan province, this morning to discuss the recent developments on the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand. The three parties are represented by their Ministers of Foreign Affairs - H.E. Prak Sokhonn of Cambodia, H.E. Sihasak Phuangketkeow of Thailand, and H.E. Wang Yi of China.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting aims to facilitate candid and constructive exchanges on the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand, with a view to fostering mutual confidence, promoting de-escalation, and restoring peace, security, and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border areas.

In a bilateral meeting with H.E. Wang Yi yesterday, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn attached great importance to the traditional solidarity, longstanding ironclad friendship, and strong foundation underpinning relations between Cambodia and China, and highly valued the steady progress of bilateral cooperation, particularly the frequent exchanges at all levels and across all sectors.

He also appreciated China's active and constructive role in supporting the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. China's continued support for the peaceful resolution of differences through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect plays a vital role in supporting the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire toward advancing a just and lasting peace, he emphasised.
