Cambodia, Thailand Discuss Bilateral Cooperation in Key Areas

Cambodia and Thailand have discussed their bilateral cooperation in key areas, including defence and security, especially the suppression of cross-border crimes to turn the Cambodian-Thai border into a border of peace, security and prosperity for the two peoples. The discussion was held here at the Peace Palace this morning between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The opening of more border crossings, especially the official opening of Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ian international border gate as soon as possible, in order to promote trade, tourism and people-to-people contacts was also discussed on the occasion. H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul underlined the traditional and long-standing relations, good neighbourliness and similar cultures between Cambodia and Thailand and reaffirmed his commitment to promote greater cooperation for the two peoples and countries. For his part, Samd ech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his pleasure at the progress and solidity of Cambodia-Thailand relations, as well as the fruitful results of the previous bilateral meetings at all levels, both within the governments and border provinces. The Prime Minister thanked the Thai government for its support to Cambodian migrant workers and mentioned about the authorisation of Thai people living in the border provinces to visit Siem Reap by using border passes.
