Adelaide: H.E. Nom Piseth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Australia, embarked on a working visit to Adelaide, South Australia, from August 14 to 15, with the goal of enhancing cooperation between Cambodia and South Australia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during his visit, Ambassador Nom Piseth engaged in discussions with key figures, including H.E. the Hon. Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia. He also met with prominent members of the South Australian Government such as Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, the Hon. Clare Scriven MLC; Minister for Environment and Water and Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Emily Bourke MLC; and Minister for Education, Skills and Training, the Hon. Lucy Hood MP.
The discussions underscored the strong relations and ongoing cooperation between Cambodia and Australia, focusing on ways to further strengthen ties between Cambodia and South Australia. Key areas identified for potential collaboration included education, vocational training, tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy.
In addition to these high-level meetings, Ambassador Nom Piseth participated in two roundtable discussions organized by StudyAdelaide. The first discussion centered on fostering higher education partnerships between Cambodia and South Australia, while the second explored the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and its potential collaboration with Cambodian educational frameworks.
The ambassador's visit also included attending a cultural event hosted by the Cambodian Association in South Australia. This event provided an opportunity for him to engage with the Cambodian community and experience traditional Khmer artistic performances aimed at promoting Cambodian national identity to an international audience.
