Phnom penh: The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, reaffirmed this afternoon the Cambodian forces' firm commitment to strictly respecting the ceasefire agreement reached between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the spokeswoman stated at a press briefing that Cambodian forces stationed in Military Regions 4 and 5 along the Cambodia-Thailand border have continued to fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement of July 28, 2025, the Joint Declaration of Oct. 26, 2025, and the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting held on Dec. 27, 2025.
She highlighted that the frontline situation remains calm, and that Cambodian forces are closely monitoring developments while remaining vigilant in carrying out their duties.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior reported that an additional 1,380 displaced persons have returned to their homes following the signing of the Joint Statement on Dec. 27, which includes the ceasefire agreement. As a result, the total number of remaining displaced persons has dropped to 595,545, including 310,844 women and 187,292 children.
The three-week-long armed clashes between the two neighbouring countries, from Dec. 7 to 27, 2025, claimed the lives of 32 civilians and left 95 others injured.
