Cambodian NA President Encourages Turkish Ambassador to Boost Investment, Trade and Tourism Cooperation

Phnom penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, encouraged the newly appointed Ambassador of Trkiye to further promote cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, agriculture, education, and technology for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples. The remarks were made during a courtesy call and working meeting with H.E. Mesut ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦€š¬…€œzcan, Ambassador of the Republic of Trkiye to Cambodia, on June 5.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Director of Cabinet and Spokesperson for the NA President, both sides expressed satisfaction with the longstanding friendship and growing cooperation between Cambodia and Trkiye at both executive and legislative levels, supported by regular exchanges and mutual respect. Samdech noted that relations between the two countries, established nearly seven decades ago, have been built on trust, practical outcomes, and a people-centred approach. She added that Cambodia and Trkiye share common values in promoting peace, prosperity, international law, and open multilateralism.

She stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation across all sectors with a focus on delivering benefits to citizens of both countries. Samdech also expressed appreciation to Trkiye for calling on Cambodia and Thailand to respect international law and pursue dialogue to address their border issue, reaffirming Cambodia's commitment to peace and peaceful dispute resolution.

For his part, Ambassador Mesut ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦€š¬…€œzcan thanked Samdech for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing bilateral relations and ensuring a successful diplomatic mission in Cambodia. Samdech, who also represents Kandal province in the NA, expressed gratitude for Trkiye's support through road infrastructure, housing, and development assistance that has helped local communities improve agricultural production.

Noting that direct flights have contributed to raising bilateral trade volume to around US$70 million, Samdech expressed confidence that the new ambassador would help unlock further opportunities and elevate Cambodia-Trkiye relations to a new level.
