Cambodian PM Advocates for Responsible AI Usage

Phnom Penh:Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has stressed the significance of responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) use, cautioning against excessive dependence on this technology.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister addressed a graduation ceremony at Asia Euro University, underscoring AI's role as a crucial part of the global economy that enhances work quality and efficiency. However, he advised that AI should support human thought rather than replace it.

During his speech, Hun Manet highlighted that individuals who utilize AI effectively could improve their performance in tasks such as information retrieval, data management, and analysis. Nonetheless, he warned against relying on AI for decision-making and emphasized the importance of maintaining human judgment and critical thinking.

The Prime Minister pointed out that educational institutions should ensure that students do not become overly dependent on AI for their learning. He noted that AI's reliance on data poses risks if the data is inaccurate, potentially leading to flawed outcomes.

Hun Manet further elaborated on the limitations of AI in capturing human decision-making factors such as culture, emotions, and specific circumstances. He warned that entrusting AI with decision-making responsibilities could lead to significant issues.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister reiterated the need to learn how to use AI effectively while upholding human responsibility and judgment, urging that AI should serve as a tool to aid, not replace, human decision-making.
