Phnom penh: The Ministry of National Defence has called on the Cambodian people to continue supporting the Royal Government and the armed forces amid ongoing Thai military attacks.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, appealed to citizens to maintain confidence in the Royal Government of Cambodia and to support the soldiers who are actively engaged on all fronts. This plea was made during a press briefing where she detailed the ongoing aggressive military actions by Thailand in Cambodia's Military Regions 4 and 5, which have persisted from last night through this morning.
Lt. Gen. Socheata emphasized the unity of the Royal Government, the armed forces, and the Cambodian people in defending the nation's territorial integrity and sovereignty. She highlighted the courage and determination with which they are confronting these challenges.
The spokeswoman also called on Thailand to adhere to the Ceasefire Agreement and the Joint Declaration signed on October 26, 2025, which was witnessed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN Chair. She reiterated Cambodia's commitment to these agreements and the pursuit of peaceful resolutions based on international law.
Lt. Gen. Socheata reassured that Cambodia's military actions are targeted solely at Thai military targets, not civilian areas, and underscored Cambodia's adherence to international law, particularly international humanitarian law.
