Phnom penh: Emirates resumed its daily flights between Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on May 1, with a stopover in Singapore. This marks a significant step in re-establishing connectivity between the two regions.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the airline's recent press release also highlighted the resumption of three weekly flights connecting Siem Reap to Dubai via Bangkok. This move is part of Emirates' broader strategy to expand its global network, currently serving 137 destinations in 72 countries with over 1,300 weekly flights. The airline's ongoing expansion efforts continue to bolster Dubai's status as a pivotal global air transport hub.
In 2025, Cambodia witnessed an increase in air travel, recording 6.98 million air passengers, a 12 percent rise from 2024. Aircraft movements reached 64,821, reflecting an 11 percent growth, while air freight saw a 21 percent increase, totaling 93,889 tonnes. Cambodia's aviation sector is supported by 36 airlines, comprising four domestic and 32 foreign carriers, which provide direct flights to 52 destinations across 18 countries. Of these, eight destinations are within ASEAN, with others in regions such as mainland China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and Turkey.
