Francophonie Village to Showcase Cultural and Culinary Diversity

Phnom Penh:The upcoming 'Village de la Francophonie,' a side event of the 20th Francophonie Summit, will offer a wide range of cultural, artistic, educational, institutional, and culinary activities, providing participants with an opportunity to explore the richness of the Francophone community.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event will include five main components: national pavilions of member states of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), daily cultural and artistic performances, conferences and seminars, a general exhibition area, and a Francophone Gastronomy Village.

The national pavilion area is designed to give OIF member states dedicated spaces to showcase their countries, while the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts will coordinate daily cultural and artistic performances with participation from OIF member states.

Conferences and seminars will involve ministries, public institutions, OIF member states, and other relevant organizations, offering a platform for discussions and exchanges on various areas of cooperation.

The general exhibition area will host approximately 100 booths for public institutions, private-sector companies, national and international organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders.

Visitors to the Francophone Gastronomy Village can discover Khmer cuisine alongside culinary specialties from OIF member states, accompanied by a range of related activities.

The Village de la Francophonie will take place at Wat Botum Vatey Garden from November 13 to 17 under the theme 'The Khmer Smile will be the Smile of Francophonie,' highlighting Cambodia's culture, tourism, and education.

Simultaneously, FrancoTech, another major side event of the Francophonie Summit, will emphasize business, technology, research, and innovation, under the theme 'One Francophone Community, One Digital Future.' FrancoTech will occur from November 14 to 16 at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Halls A-F, spotlighting developments and opportunities in the digital and innovation sectors within the Francophone community.

Cambodia is set to host the 20th Francophonie Summit and the 48th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie from November 14 to 16, 2026, in Phnom Penh.
