Hun Manet Encourages Lifelong Learning Among Cambodian Medical Students

Phnom Penh:Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called on medical students and graduates to engage in continuous research, advanced studies, and professional development to strengthen Cambodia's health sector with expertise and ethics.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister's remarks were made during the 80th founding anniversary of the University of Health Science. He emphasized that obtaining a degree should be seen as the commencement of lifelong learning and ongoing professional growth.

Hun Manet urged medical professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge, innovate, and conduct research to improve Cambodia's health services. He highlighted the necessity for medical practitioners to possess not only technical expertise but also strong ethics, responsibility, and an understanding of patients' psychological needs.

He noted that most doctors in Cambodia have been domestically trained, reflecting the contributions of national medical education institutions. The Prime Minister encouraged collaboration among stakeholders to maintain and improve the quality of medical education and healthcare services.

He stressed the importance of medical professionals building on the achievements of their predecessors to ensure the enhancement of healthcare services and expressed the goal of achieving universal health coverage in Cambodia by 2035. Hun Manet concluded by asserting that investment in human resources, education, and ethics is crucial for developing a competent healthcare workforce.
