Hyundai Motor Group's sales in Britain rose 1.3 percent on-year in the first half of the year, the South Korean automotive giant said Wednesday, citing industry data. According to Britain's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis sold 107,326 units combined in Britain in the January-June period, up 1.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Last year, Hyundai Motor Group logged its record annual sales of 196,239 units in Britain. The group said it expects to surpass 200,000 units in sales this year to achieve its highest-ever annual performance. The group said its combined market share in Britain stood at 10.66 percent in the first half of this year. By brand, Kia ranked fourth in the market with 60,366 units sold, while Hyundai Motor ranked ninth with 46,404 units sold. According to the SMMT, Hyundai Motor Group's sales of eco-friendly vehicles in Britain totaled 53,169 units during the January-June period, up 9 percent from the same period last year. Hyundai Motor Group said it plans to accelerate its efforts in the British market by participating in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, an annual motorsport festival, in the country this year. This year, Hyundai Motor Group will showcase the performance of the GV60 Magma Concept and the G80 Electrified Magma Concept under the Genesis brand for the first time at the festival.
