Kampot: H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, visited and held discussions with the management of Huaxin Industrial Park (Cambodia), which includes the Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory in Kampot province on May 4. During the visit, H.E. Minister encouraged the company to expand investment, strengthen competitiveness, and explore new opportunities in construction materials and exports.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Ke Hongwei, Managing Director of the Huaxin Industrial Park, presented Huaxin's global operations and its diversified business portfolio, noting that in Cambodia the company reinvested in the Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory in 2012 to modernise the facility and expand its operations. He mentioned the company's commitment to long-term investment in Cambodia, focusing on improving product quality, production efficiency, and services to ensure a stable supply to the local market. The company is also expanding into plaster and other construction materials.
The Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory, established in 1961 as the country's first cement plant, has been transformed by Huaxin's investment into an integrated industrial park supplying a wide range of construction materials for major infrastructure projects nationwide. Minister Vanndy commended the company's long-term investment, stating that the company's presence and expansion reflect strong confidence in Cambodia's economic stability and development potential.
Minister Vanndy encouraged expansion beyond the domestic market, emphasised fair competition, and stressed the need for sustainable raw material supply, particularly limestone, for long-term development. The company requested support from MISTI to promote the use of locally produced packaging bags and announced plans to introduce new products for the domestic market to reduce reliance on imports.
Minister Vanndy encouraged the company to deepen its investment by advancing research and development and expanding into new construction materials-particularly those with high import demand such as tiles and marble. He highlighted the critical role of material science in industrial development and urged Huaxin to collaborate with NISTI in research and development, including waste management and innovative reuse of materials.
