Interior Ministry Dismisses Fabricated Reports Alleging Africans Ordered to Leave Cambodia

Cambodia: Cambodia's Ministry of Interior has strongly rejected fabricated reports published by two Ghana-based media outlets alleging that African nationals with expired immigration waivers were ordered to leave Cambodia by May 31, 2026.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry issued a statement on May 29, clarifying that the websites 'Campaigner Online' and 'News Ghana' had published an article titled: 'Cambodia Orders Africans with Expired Immigration Waivers to Leave by May 31, 2026,' which was accompanied by a falsified notice purportedly from Cambodia's General Department of Immigration.

The Ministry of Interior categorically denied the authenticity of the document and the dissemination of false information, describing the publications as an attempt to distort facts, mislead international public opinion, and damage Cambodia's reputation.

The Ministry clarified that Cambodia has never adopted any policy ordering African nationals to leave the country, as falsely alleged in the reports. It emphasized that Cambodia consistently welcomes all foreigners who comply with legal requirements, including businesspersons, investors, tourists, and foreign workers, to enter and reside in Cambodia without discrimination.

The Ministry also urged national and international media outlets to uphold professionalism and responsibility when sharing information to avoid creating misunderstandings and misinformation about Cambodia within the international community.

Earlier, the General Department of Immigration issued a separate press clarification rejecting the false reports.
