Phnom penh: H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, received a courtesy call from Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, the newly-appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, to discuss further cooperation.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting focused on collaborative efforts in implementing programmes that have achieved significant accomplishments through long-standing relationships. H.E. Heng Sour outlined strategies for continued cooperation on skills development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth employment programmes.
H.E. Minister emphasized the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry to improve working conditions, establish minimum wages, provide social security benefits, and create job opportunities for youth. This includes initiatives for Cambodian workers returning from Thailand through nationwide job forums.
The Minister also reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening the partnership with the UN, expressing confidence that the cooperation will focus on developing skills for Cambodia's youth and workforce. This aligns with Cambodia's sustainable economic development goals.
Ms. Vladanka Andreeva praised the vision of the Royal Government and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. She reaffirmed the UN's commitment to supporting Cambodia's sustainable development through effective and well-coordinated approaches, contributing to the achievement of the country's sustainable development goals and economic vision.
