National Standards Council Adopts 60 New and Revised Standards at 32nd Council Meeting

Phnom penh: The National Standards Council (NSC) convened here on Dec. 11 its 32nd meeting and formally adopted 60 new and revised national standards, spanning key sectors including construction, chemicals, energy management, electrical and electronic products, automotive systems, cosmetics, timber products, and textiles.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the newly approved package consists of 50 new international ISO and IEC standards, 1 revised Cambodian standard, and 9 amendments, all rigorously reviewed by the respective Technical Committees. These standards are designed to strengthen Cambodia's alignment with international best practices and support the nation's ambitions toward a safer, greener, and more competitive industrial economy.

Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) and Chairman of the NSC, highlighted the significance of the adoption, emphasizing that modern standards are central to Cambodia's industrial transformation. "These standards reflect our commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability. Their adoption strengthens Cambodia's readiness for advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies," he added.

H.E. Minister urged members of the council representing ministries-institutions, technical bodies, and industry representatives to actively disseminate awareness and strengthen understanding of the adopted standards within their respective sectors and areas of responsibility.
