NBC Governor Receives Newly Appointed ADB Country Director

Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), received a courtesy call from Ms. Jasmin Siddiqi, who has recently been appointed as the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey and Ms. Jasmin Siddiqi discussed Cambodia's economic situation, challenges, and the development of the national payment system. They also touched upon the application of artificial intelligence in these sectors.

Ms. Jasmin Siddiqi praised the resilience of the Cambodian economy and highlighted the progress in promoting financial inclusion and literacy, particularly through their incorporation into the general education curriculum. She also expressed her commitment to bolstering cooperation with the National Bank of Cambodia.

H.E. Dr. Chea Serey acknowledged the longstanding collaboration between the NBC and the ADB. She expressed gratitude for the ADB's support, especially in the operation of the Financial Services Consumer Protection Centre, updating the National Strategy on Financial Inclusion 2026-2030, and initiatives related to financial sustainability.
