Phnom penh: Nearly 6,000 additional displaced people from safety camps across seven provinces in Cambodia have returned to their respective homes, according to the Ministry of Interior. From 6:00 a.m. on January 9 to 6:00 a.m. on January 10, 2026, a total of 5,957 displaced persons made the journey back to their homes, the Ministry reported.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, as of January 10, 2026, approximately 480,000 displaced persons have successfully returned home. However, 167,226 individuals remain in displacement camps. The majority of those still displaced hail from areas that fell under Thai control following the ceasefire on December 27, 2025.
The affected regions include Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages and Boeung Trakuon in Banteay Meanchey province. In Pursat province, O'Phluk Damrei and Thmar Da International Border Gate are among the impacted locations. An Ses, Ta Thav, and Phnom Traap in Preah Vihear province, along with O'Smach, Knar Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, Tamone Thom Temple, Chob Angkunh, and Chok Krous in Oddar Meanchey province, are also areas where displacement remains significant.
