Pursat: Hong Kong-based A1 Plastics firm broke ground on Jan. 19 a US$29-million polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics recycling factory at the Special Economic Zone in Krakor district, Pursat province. The event was presided over by H.E. Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy and relevant stakeholders.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the project reflects growing investor confidence in Cambodia's industrial potential and its commitment to sustainable development. H.E. Keo Rottanak stated that the plastic processing plant in Krakor district will contribute to waste reduction, resource efficiency, and job creation.
Once operational, the recycling plant is expected to process used PET plastics for reuse in manufacturing. This initiative supports Cambodia's circular economy objectives and contributes to long-term environmental protection efforts. H.E. Keo Rottanak emphasized that the investment aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia's broader strategy to attract environmentally responsible industries while strengthening the domestic manufacturing base.
H.E. Keo Rottanak also highlighted Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet's focus on promoting green jobs and expanding the country's income base through sustainable economic activities.
