Prime Minister Advocates for Road Beautification and Enhanced Safety Measures

Pursat:Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has emphasized the need for increased tree planting, road maintenance, and beautification along Cambodia's major and national roads to improve both road safety and the country's landscape.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the inauguration of National Road No. 10 in Veal Veng district, Pursat province, Hun Manet highlighted the Royal Government's efforts to enhance the appearance and safety of major roads by planting trees and installing solar-powered street lights.

Hun Manet revealed that solar street lights would be installed on approximately 1,200 kilometers of national roads, exceeding the initial target of 1,000 kilometers. This initiative is being executed with a budget of around US$6 million.

The solar lighting project spans 13 provinces and the capital, including Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot, and Kep.

The Prime Minister called for the expansion of similar efforts across major roads and national roads, emphasizing the significance of maintaining clean and attractive surroundings to enhance road users' safety. He stressed that road infrastructure development should consider not only transport and connectivity but also roadside landscaping, environmental improvement, and public safety.

Hun Manet encouraged authorities to continue planting and properly maintaining trees, enhancing the overall appearance of roads, and making Cambodia's major transport corridors safer, greener, and more appealing.
