Royal Government Successfully Secures Release of 18 Cambodian Soldiers from Thai Detention

Phnom penh: The Royal Government of Cambodia today announced the successful release and safe return of the 18 Cambodian soldiers who had been detained by the Thai military since July 29, 2025, marking exactly 155 days since their capture.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, despite the prolonged duration, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet reaffirmed that the country never forgot the detained soldiers and remained committed to fulfilling its responsibilities toward them. From the first day of their detention, he underlined, the Royal Government identified and pursued three key obligations: ensuring their survival, guaranteeing their safety, and securing their freedom.

The Premier extended his congratulations to the 18 soldiers on their safe return and their reunion with their families. The 18 soldiers arrived this afternoon in Phnom Penh, where their families waited for them with joy and relief, following their release by the Thai side early today.
