Rural Development Ministry and ADB Discuss Cooperation on Infrastructure and Services

Phnom penh: H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, recently met with Mr. Nianshan Zhang, Director General for the Southeast Asia Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and his delegation to discuss expanding cooperation on infrastructure and services.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, H.E. Chhay Rithisen outlined the Ministry's vision for building Cambodia's rural society to be prosperous with inclusiveness, equity, and sustainability across various dimensions, aligning with the National Rural Development Policy 2025-2035. This policy includes five priority programs aimed at promoting rural integration, accelerating development, and ensuring sustainable household income growth and well-being.

H.E. Chhay Rithisen also highlighted past cooperation with ADB, which includes rural road development projects covering 3,000 kilometres, rural water supply and sanitation initiatives, and other projects either under implementation or planned for the near future.

Mr. Nianshan Zhang expressed appreciation for the Royal Government's efforts in advancing Cambodia's progress across sectors. He emphasized ADB's partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Rural Development on public investment and technical assistance for Cambodia's development. ADB is committed to maintaining strong cooperation with the Ministry to further accelerate development in rural areas.
