Banteay meanchey: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Acting Head of State of Cambodia, addressed over 1,035 members of provincial councils, city and district officials, as well as commune and Sangkat council members during a meeting at the provincial administration hall in Banteay Meanchey province on Thursday morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this meeting was part of Samdech Techo's 14th mission in his expansive outreach program, aimed at engaging directly with local leaders across 16 capitals and provinces to strengthen ties with government officials. The key objectives of these visits include enhancing accountability, improving transparency, and promoting efficient local governance while ensuring effective public service delivery.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo expressed his satisfaction at reconnecting with provincial officials and commended the efforts of provincial leaders, civil servants, and working groups in the development of Banteay Meanchey. He urged officials, especially those in commune and Sangkat councils, to perform their duties with diligence and to enhance the efficiency and speed of public service provision for citizens.
Samdech Techo also emphasized the importance of caring for the families of deployed soldiers, fallen service members, and veterans, acknowledging the contributions and sacrifices of the armed forces in safeguarding national sovereignty and citizens. He called for swift and impartial resolution of land disputes, advocating for out-of-court settlements where possible.
Further, he encouraged local authorities to protect natural resources, uphold national stability and public order, and enforce stricter measures against crimes such as robbery, drug trafficking, and technology-related offences. He reminded officials that as public servants, their role is to serve the people faithfully.
According to Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey, Banteay Meanchey province is composed of nine cities and districts, 67 communes and Sangkats, and 667 villages, with a projected GDP of US$1.91 billion in 2025, primarily driven by agriculture, industry, and services.
