Some 1,000,000 More Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine Arrive in Cambodia

Cambodia this morning received 1,000,000 more doses of China-made COVID-19 vaccine, including 500,000 doses of Sinopharm and 500,000 doses of Sinovac.

H.E. Dr. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, and her colleagues welcomed the arrival of the new batch of vaccines at Phnom Penh International Airport.

In a Facebook comment last night, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said if nothing changes, Cambodia will get 1 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines on June 12, and another 1 million doses on June 19.

“Our country is poor (in terms of wealth), but we are not poor in mindset,” the Premier underlined. “We are looking for ways to protect the lives of our people.”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed thanks to his compatriots for their support for the national movement against the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the newly arrived vaccines, Cambodia has received in total over 7 million doses of vaccines: 2.2 million doses of China-donated Sinopharm, 4.5 million doses of Sinovac bought from China, and 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD) via COVAX Facility.
