Siem Reap:Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak has called on Cambodian tourism operators and communities to embrace digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance service quality and competitiveness within the tourism sector.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the minister emphasized the importance of adopting these technologies during a World Tourism Day 2026 event, themed 'Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.' The celebration, held at Bayon Era Hotel in Siem Reap province on September 27, was organized by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the UN Tourism.
At the event, H.E. Huot Hak launched the 'ASEAN Hygiene and Safety Measures for Tourism Industry Operators and Communities' and promoted the 'ASEAN Safe and Warm Stamp.' This regional initiative aims to enhance quality, safety, hygiene, and tourism service standards among ASEAN Member States.
The minister noted that the theme of World Tourism Day 2026 aligns with global trends, highlighting the transformative impact of digital technology and AI on the tourism sector. He stated that these technologies would aid in policymaking, product development, marketing, and data-driven decision-making, thereby increasing the sector's efficiency and competitiveness.
H.E. Huot Hak also mentioned Cambodia's efforts to improve digital connectivity and promote joint tourism initiatives with neighboring countries to better meet the evolving needs of international tourists. World Tourism Day 2026 seeks to raise awareness about the role of digital technology and AI in fostering a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism sector.
