According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting reaffirmed ABC's commitment to supporting a sound, responsible, and inclusive banking sector in Cambodia, while protecting the legitimate interests of its members. ABC issued a statement on Mar. 27, emphasizing its dedication to this cause.
Mr. Rath Sophoan, re-elected Chairman of ABC, outlined his commitment to implementing the recommendations from the Independent Review of ABC. These recommendations include reforms related to governance, leadership, committees, and advocacy, aimed at enhancing the Association's effectiveness and influence.
In his address, Mr. Sophoan congratulated the newly elected Council members and introduced a three-pillar vision for the new term. This vision focuses on promoting a responsible, ethical, and sustainable banking sector to strengthen public trust and advance financial inclusion. Additionally, it aims to build banker capabilities through continuous learning, technical excellence, and ethical leadership, while fostering stronger collaboration across the ecosystem to support national prosperity and sustainable growth.
ABC reiterated its commitment to collaborating closely with the National Bank of Cambodia and other relevant stakeholders and government partners. The goal is to support policy priorities that enhance financial sector stability, inclusion, resilience, and sustainable economic growth.
Cambodia's banking and financial institutions reported modest lending growth in 2025, as noted in a National Bank of Cambodia's annual report. Outstanding loans increased by 4.1 percent year-on-year, reaching US$63 billion by the end of 2025, while customer deposits surged by 14.7 percent to US$65.7 billion.
