Cambodia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Bilateral and Religious Cooperation

Phnom Penh:The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have pledged to deepen their bilateral relations, focusing on economic, social, and religious cooperation. This commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Dr. Othsman Hassan, Cambodia's Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, and H.E. Sheikh Dr. Awad Sabti Al-Anazi, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs at the Peace Palace on October 5.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Senior Minister Othsman Hassan expressed his gratitude to King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and H.E. Dr. Abdullatif, Saudi Minister of Religious Affairs, for their ongoing humanitarian assistance and support for Cambodia, particularly its Muslim community.

The meeting highlighted Saudi Arabia's contributions to Cambodia, including scholarships for Cambodian students, support for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, and donations of the Holy Quran and food supplies through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to aid displaced persons in Banteay Meanchey province.

H.E. Sheikh Dr. Awad Sabti Al-Anazi thanked Cambodia for its hospitality and cooperation, particularly in hosting the ASEAN Countries Conference ("Khair Ummah"). He praised Cambodia's efforts in maintaining racial and religious harmony, citing them as exemplary in the region, and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting Islamic communities and vulnerable populations globally, with continued collaboration with Cambodia.
