Cambodia Concludes Three-day Celebration of Independence Day

Phnom penh: The three-day celebration of the 72nd Anniversary of Cambodia's Independence Day concluded this afternoon. His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, extinguished the Victory Flame, which he had ignited on November 9 at the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King; Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly; and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. A large gathering of civil servants, armed forces, local residents, and students were also present.

The event saw the participation of foreign ambassadors to Cambodia and was broadcast live on local television and radio stations. Cambodia commemorates its independence from France, achieved on November 9, 1953, under the royal leadership of the late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, who is celebrated as the father of national independence, territorial integrity, and national unity.
